2026 Ramadan: Boycott “Israeli” dates. Break fast with Palestinian Medjoul.

Fruit and vegetables are one of Israel’s biggest exports and all Israeli agricultural exporters are complicit in Israel’s violations of international law as they operate on stolen Palestinian land. An estimated 75% of Medjoul dates are marketed as “Products of Israel” but are grown in illegal Israeli colonial settlements. Don’t break your fast with apartheid!

What should I do?

Step 1.

Pledge to not buy Israeli apartheid medjoul! Fill out our form:

Step 2.

Check the label. If it says “Product of Israel”, do NOT buy. Brands to look for: Myjool, King Solomon, Carrousel, Mehadrin, Bomaja Blue, Hadiklaim, Jordan River, La Palma, Mehadrin, and Prana

Step 3.

See if the label includes a country of origin. Some do, but many do not. Do NOT buy if it does not list the country of origin on the package.

There is at least one supplier in Canada, National Best Food/NBF which imports from Hadiklaim, an Israeli companyWho Profits has clearly documented the source of Hadiklaim’s dates as coming from occupied Palestine and Golan. Also, several countries have had victories of cutting ties to Hadiklaim such as South Africa. Some products from NBF do say “Product of Israel” but others, especially in stores where Arabs and/or Muslims shop, have NO country of origin listed. The product simply says “imported by NFB.”

I/we are sharing a message from the Canadian BDS Coalition & International BDS Allies :

Ramadan is approaching which means Canadian grocers will be back to selling “Israeli” apartheid Medjoul dates. As we prepare for our 8th annual Ramadan campaign to boycott “Israeli” dates and buy Palestinian. To do this, we need community support to help track the sale of apartheid Medjoul.

What we ask? As you are grocery shopping, check for Medjoul dates. If any are listed as “Products of Israel” or from any of the following brands, fill out this form to let us know. Take a photo and upload it so we can document it: tr.ee/medjoul

Beyond Medjoul dates: Apartheid Produce

As noted, it is not only Medjoul dates that are sold as “Products of Israel” but come from occupied Palestine. There is countless produce imported from “Israel” that is the result of occupation, apartheid, and genocide. For Palestinians, agriculture is much more than the production of olives, citrus fruit and other fresh produce, or keeping livestock. Farming is tied to the Palestinian people’s identity, history and resistance to Israel’s colonial occupation.

It is important we take action. Join us by:

  1. Boycotting produce listed as “Products of Israel” or looking for the country code 729 (note that not all Israeli produce uses this code). TIP: Look at both the product label and the shelf label. Stores have been known to mislabel products on the shelf.
  2. Report any “Israeli” produce you find using this form!
  3. Talk to or email the store manager to ask them to take the products off the shelf and not bring in more.
  4. Share this information with your friends and family and promote alternate Palestinian products.
