Shame on Aga Khan Museum, partnering with Scotiabank, major financier of Elbit!

Shamefully, Aga Khan Museum has partnered with Scotiabank/Scotia Wealth Management in the 2024 Contact Photography Festival.

Beyond this Aga Khan is listed as the first in a list of core venues!

Aga Khan Museum is hosting an exhibition through to June 9, 2024. It started May 1st.

The Aga Khan Museum can’t even say “Palestine” in an internal memo about the Israeli occupation of Palestinian Territories and its genocide in Gaza, and it’s directing its staff to do the same.

In May, seven months into Israel’s genocidal assault on Gaza, the Aga Khan Museum distributed a memo to staff with a set of prepared answers to deflect questions from the public about the Museum’s accountability.

They include a question regarding the Museum’s participation in the CONTACT Photography Festival. Knowing the festival is funded by Scotiabank, one of the largest foreign investors in Israeli weapons manufacture, Elbit Svstems, the Museum selectively ignores the cause for the question.

And a question about the Museum’s appearance on the BDS list, to which the Museum pleads innocent and misapprehends that complicity with the Israeli apartheid state is not exclusive to financial support but is also substantiated by “normalization” of relations with it.

CONTACT is funded by Scotiabank, one of the largest foreign investors in Israeli weapons manufacture, Elbit Svstems. Elbit is in direct complicity with Israel’s war crimes and the ongoing Gaza genocide.

Complicity with the Israeli apartheid state is not exclusive to financial support, it is also substantiated by “normalization” of relations with it. The Palestinian call for a cultural boycott of Israel goes beyond financial support to all forms of complicity and cooperation with Zionist institutions.
