The Harmful Impact of Raising the Israeli Flag on Palestinian Residents in Saint John

In late April, the Palestine Solidarity Committee of Saint John (PSCSJ), a member of the Canadian BDS Coalition, protested against the city of Saint John for raising the Israeli flag.

Send your own letter to the City of Saint John

PSCSJ indicated it is important to write a letter to the City of Saint John Mayor and Councilors to express your concerns about flying the Israeli flag in the city for several reasons:

  1. To raise awareness: By expressing your concerns, you are bringing the issue to the attention of the Mayor and Councilors who may not have been aware of the impact of their decision to fly the flag.
  2. To advocate for justice: Your letter can help to advocate for justice and human rights for the Palestinian people. It is essential to speak out against any form of oppression and discrimination.
  3. To promote dialogue: Your letter can serve as a starting point for a constructive dialogue with the Mayor and Councilors, which can lead to a better understanding of the impact of their decision to fly the flag and possible solutions that promote unity and harmony in the community.
  4. To inspire action: Your letter can inspire others to take action and speak out against injustice, promoting a culture of advocacy and social responsibility.

In conclusion, writing a letter to the City of Saint John Mayor and Councilors to express your concerns about flying the Israeli flag is an important step in advocating for justice, raising awareness, promoting dialogue, and inspiring action towards creating a more just and equitable community.

The Palestine Solidarity Committee Saint John (PSCSJ)  is a group made up of Canadians, Arabs, and Palestinians living in Saint John. We formed in 2018 to raise awareness about the struggles of Palestinians and the human rights violations committed by the Israeli government against them.
