BREAKING: Canada Revenue Agency formally revokes the charitable status of the Jewish National Fund (JNF) of Canada and Ne’eman Foundation of Canada.

BREAKING: Canada Revenue Agency formally revokes the charitable status of the Jewish National Fund (JNF) of Canada and Ne’eman Foundation of Canada.

The announcement in today’s (August 10) Canada Gazette means taxpayers will no longer subsidize Ne’eman and JNF’s support for Israeli apartheid and genocide.

On January 23, 2023, Just Peace Advocates sent a detailed request for the CRA to audit Ne’eman Foundation of Canada signed by Rabbi David Mivasair and Khaled Mouammar. The submission indicated that the Ne’eman Foundation Canada funded organizations assisting illegal settlements and the Israeli military.

Ne’eman Foundation Canada assisted the undercover assassination unit, Duvdevan, and lone soldiers including Michael Levin Base (Base for Lone Soldiers) and Brothers for Life, as well as donating to Reservists on Duty.

Ne’eman also provided funds to Se’u Tziona Nes v’degel which fundraises for Daniella Weiss’ Nachla movement. Weiss was added to Canada’s sanctions list in June.

“Canada Revenue Agency officials should be applauded for applying the rules towards these two Israel focused charities”, noted Karen Rodman of Just Peace Advocates. “But, the CRA has received detailed complaints concerning more than a dozen other Israel focused charities violating charity guidelines. We expect them to move forward with audits of those charities.”

As NDP revenue critic Niki Ashton recently put it, “not one cent of Canadian tax-dollars should be funding genocide.”
